These experts have acquired their insights through practical and theoretical skills gained over the centuries and passed down through the generations. Expertise that allows them to develop their imagination over and over again.

The guilds emerged in the Middle Ages in Europe. In France, the guilds evolved under the reign of Saint-Louis in the 13th century. Ordinances redefined the disciplines, the trades, and their regulations. Artisans gained a little more freedom in organizing their activities after the French Revolution.

The common sense that once prevailed tends to be drowned in France under stacks of sometimes incoherent regulations put in place by people foreign to the field concerned. Theory alone is not enough.
